Welcome to the web site of Shirley Hulley. Shirley lives in Kingston, Ontario. She specializes in pen and ink sketches and watercolors. Her paintings and sketches contain an impressive attention to detail. Historical buildings, churches, waterfront scenes and children at play form the basis of many of her works. COMMISSIONS WELCOME.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
- Commissioned by the City of Kingston to produce a painting for Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado of Japan.
- Artwork chosen for Save the Children Canada Christmas Cards (twelve consecutive years).
- Twelve-time featured sketch artist for Kingston Symphony House Tour. (Originals displayed and depicted on the individual House Tour Guides.)
- Selected by photographer, Malak Karsh, to paint a sister painting for use in fund raising activities by the Parkinson Foundation (hasti-notes and prints).
- Four-time artist featured on the cover of the Kingston & District Sports Hall of Fame annual induction booklet.
- Two-time winner of Kingston Festival of the Trees poster contest.
- Award winner, for ten consecutive years, for artwork featured at the Kingston Festival of the Trees.
- Winner of Brockville Dickens of a Festival poster contest.
- Featured artist for annual calendar produced by House Speaker, Peter Milliken.
- Winner of international poster competition for the International Plowing Match.
- Recipient of both the Paul Harris Award and the Mary Siemensen Award.
- One of 20 women chosen as “Canadian Women Artists of the Nineties” in an art exhibit at the Raymer Gallery, Ottawa.
- Featured artist at the Ontario Provincial Historica Fair.
- Artist for 2007 Parkinson Society Canada Calendar, depicting Canadian Parliament Buildings.
